Yarusa Shaheen was born on July 30, 1958 to Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Khan in Sialkot, Pakistan. Being the youngest child, with five older brothers, she received her early education from Hunter Memorial Christian School in Sialkot, Pakistan and got her bachelor's degree from Government College in Sialkot, Pakistan. Later, she received her educational degree from Lady Aitchison University in Lahore, Pakistan. She started her professional career at Lahore Cathedral #3 in Pakistan.
In 1984, she married Dr. Victor Gill and moved to Peshawar, Pakistan. The Pakistan Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church appointed her as the examiner for primary schools, and later as the principal of Peshawar School. With the Lord's guidance and her determination Peshawar School grew from a primary school with 12 students to a Government recognized secondary science school with over 300 students. She made it her life's mission to uplift Christian families through education. She was also actively involved in all church activities and helped to start a Sewing Centre for young women with the help of Good Samaritan Ministries.
She was blessed with three daughters and not only encouraged them to do well in their studies but also taught them to love the Lord. She moved to the U.S. with her family in December of 2014. Due to her poor health, she was hospitalized on May 4, 2017 and went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2017.
She was an exceptional woman who possessed qualities far greater than we can state. Her life can be simply summed up in one word, "Love." She loved her family, her friends and all God's people she met along the way, but above all she loved the Lord with all her heart. In the end that is all we should strive for in our short time on this earth.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:31 KJV
